The Spouse of Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Tessy Mudavadi has urged for greater collaboration between the humanitarian work of the Rotary Group in supporting Cerebral palsy community in Kenya.
Speaking at BrookField Academy Karatina in Mathira constituency Ms Mudavadi called for establishment of special school where kids with such conditions could be taken care of fully.
“Health facilities nationally have inadequate equipment to handle the magnitude of challenges being faced by the PWDs and called upon the government to allocate more funds” Said Ms Mudavadi.
These sentiments were echoed by the Chief Executive of AHADI TRUST Dr Stanley Kamau who said the government’s offer for free Universal Health Coverage (UHC) should begin with those extremely needy cases and also those People Living with Disabilities in the country.
“I also appeal unto the relatives of those living with disabilities not stigmatize or isolate those special family members since they are created in God’s image,” said Dr Kamau.
During the ceremony, more than 150 children with the condition were offered free medical check-ups, courtesy of Mwai Kibaki Level VI hospital.
