The Waterfund the lead Institution tasked by Ministry of Water and Irrigation Kenya to organize the 2024 Water and Sanitation Investors conference WASIC which is set to be take place from 6^th to 8^th March in Nairobi held a Pre-breakfast meeting to set in motion the 2024 Water and Sanitation Investors conference.

Giving the opening remarks Waterfund CEO Willis Ombai welcomed the dignitaries led by Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Hon.Zachariah Njeru and Vihiga Conty Governor Dr Wilberforce Otichillo,,Development Partners, Financial institutions and other investors who graced the breakfast meeting, stating that all was set for the conference.

The Cabinet Secretary For Water and Irrigation who was the Chief Guest underscored the importance of having the conference calling it a conversation in the right direction with emphasis being given to the huge role investors are envisioned in the realization of water access to all by 2030.

“The rising water demand due to urbanization and industrialization trends continue to exert enormous pressure on scarce water resources” Said the Cabinet Secretary, adding that its due to this pressure for water access which has made the government to look at different financing models working in conjunction with Development partners and strategic investors in bridging this gap.

The Cabinet Secretary’s sentiments were echoed by the Governor of Vihiga county Dr.Otichillo who said that water being a devolved function, the Devolved Units in Kenya will fully collaborate with the Ministry of water and irrigation in realization of access to clean water which is a fundamental Human right in Kenya’s constitution and Africa Union Agenda 2063.
