Nyari Welfare Society and with the support of Kenya’s Environment Enforcement and Regulatory body ,National Environment Authority NEMA,opened a model green space in Nyari estate in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
Speaking during the ceremony, Director General of NEMA Mr.Mamo.B.Mamo who was the chief guest and also represented the Kenya Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Forestry Hon. Keraiko Tobiko SC commended the Nyari Welfare Society for coming up with such recreation space in the estate where everything will be green. The Cabinet Secretary through the DG Nema Mamo.B.Mamo called upon other neighborhoods to come up with such green spaces to help conserve the environment.
On his part Nyari Welfare Chairperson Mr Rahmat Ghassimi also echoed the Director General speech on importance of conserving the environment. The chairperson also stressed the impact on species within the green space climatic conditions.Mr Ghassimi liked the Green Space to the famous John Michuki Park that is located in the Central Business District of Nairobi.
To wrap up the occasion, Nyari Welfare Society, sponsored planting of 200 trees on the busy Red Hill Road adjacent to Nyari Estate. Other dignitaries at the Nyari Estate Green Space Launch and tree planting exercise were Renowned Philanthropist Agnes Kagure,Dr Jane Njuguna Director Kenya Forest Research Institute and Ellyanne Githae,a Girl scout from Peponi School the youngest Mashujaa (Hero) on climate change.
