Under the theme “Fostering Compliance to International Standards to Enhance Transparency, Comparability & Accountability”
While giving opening address Dr. Grace Kamau Executive Committee Chairman said this year the Award will spotlight financial reporting across the East Africa Region. ” FiRe Award continues to be East Africa’s most esteemed and rigorous platform for recognizing excellence in financial reporting, corporate governance, sustainability disclosures, and integrated thinking”.
Dr.Grace Kamau added “I would like to encourage all reporting entities to adopt international standards for compliance and reflect their intentions since trust in institutions begins with clear and transparent accounting practices.”
“The true comparability requires consistent application of standards; actual transparency calls for full disclosure; and genuine accountability means that those entrusted with stewardship report the positives and risks taking into consideration the FSG Standards which were launched in 2023” said Dr. Grace.
These sentiments were supported by the Chief Executive of Capital Markets Authority CMA Mr. Wyckliffe Shamiah who said there was an urgent need to have a qualitative financial reporting which can form basis of reference among peers in Kenya and the East Africa region.
Entries to participate in the FIRE awards which opened today is open to both Public and Private organizations, Nairobi Stock Exchange Listed Entities, and Financial institutions is set to run to 30th September, with Award Ceremony slated for 5th November.
