TowerXchange an open community for thought leaders in the telecom infrastructure industry, which bring together MNOs, towercos, investors, equipment and service providers to share best practices in passive and active infrastructure management, opex reduction, and to accelerate infrastructure sharing has held it’s Africa summit In Nairobi after 11 Years absence.
With over 50% of Africa lacking mobile connectivity, towercos have a major role to play in plugging the continents infrastructure gap and accelerating Africa’s digital, social and economic development. Half of Africa’s towers remain under MNO ownership, so there is still plenty of opportunity for further acquisitions, carve-outs and consolidation.

Speaking during at the summit the Chief Operating Officer of ACT Kenya Mr.Eric Maina said that there is much demand of Data in Africa particularly the demand of the faster 5-G Data due to the bulging of Middle class in Africa.
“The demographic change in Africa where there is a bulge of youthful population has given the impetus in installation of telecom infrastructure such as towercos across the continent” Said Mr Maina.
These sentiments were supported by Mr.Kunle Aluyemi Head of Sub Saharan Africa HIS Tower who called for acceleration of investments in Telcoms in Sub Saharan Africa.
