The International Academy of Family lawyers,Law Society of kenya,East Africa Law Society,Commonwealth Lawyers Association and the Judiciary of kenya collaborated for a high level symposium, with regional and global partners, which brought together leading voices to confront global challenges affrcting families.
It was noted during the symposium that families now increasingly live and connect across borders, family law remains confined within local boundaries.
The high level panels explored pressing challenges: cross-border custody disputes, child abduction, international adoption and the need for enforceable dispute resolution mechanisms that transcend jurisdictions.
Throughout the conversations it was underscored that family law is not only about statutes and courtrooms, but about safeguarding dignity, protecting children and ensuring justice reaches the heart of our communities.
Practitioners were argued to modernize their frameworks, strengthen cross-border cooperation and keep compassion at the center of family justice.
Among the notable presenters were the President of Law Society of Kenya Faith Odhiambo,Commomwealth Lawyers Association kenya chapter’s Treasurer Maria Mbeneka and President of East Africa Law Society Ramadhan Abubakar.
