Kenya’s National Industrial Training Authority NITA Steps Up Industrial on Job Training

The Kenya’s National Industrial Training Authority which has been established under the Act of Parliament has stepped up the industrial on job training targeting corporates which require technical skills in Kenya.

Speaking while officiating a graduation parade of trained technicians, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Labor and Skills Development Hon. Andrew Mwadime whose speech was read on his behalf by the Secretary for Productivity Skill development lauded the graduates for perseverance and hard work for the 12 months they went through on job industrial training.
“The government of Kenya has made training with emphasis on Prior recognition towards skilling the workforce in Kenya and beyond to boost the marketability in rapidly changing workforce environment in line with the global demand” Said PS Mwadime.

The Permanent Secretary added that the industrial on job training will help address the skills gaps in Kenya “the new graduates as they transit to full employment in Kenya or abroad will have a great economic impact for the overall growth of the country, which is in line with the country’s economic blueprint of Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda BETA” Said Hon.Mwadime.
On her Part the Ag. Director General of NITA Theresa Wasike said the institution was delighted to partner with private sector in skilling and retooling the workforce particularly in the technical fields.

“NITA will continuously work very closely with employers in Kenya to train their staff with new and emerging skills in a collaborative manner, whereby NITA had developed a standard training manual for the sector” Said Ms Wasike.

And on the thorny issue of financial constrain by private sector in offering training the Director General assured private sector that the government had finalized the reimbursement of training levy which had delayed for some time.
